Sugar prices to cross Rs 100 in Pakistan

Lahore: Sugar prices continue to rise in the Punjab market after a brief spell of lower prices during the month of Ramzan.

The validity of government notified price of sugar at Rs 80 per kg for Ramzan will end from Monday, said an official. The rate was applied to 155,000 tons of sugar that were to be supplied to the consumers during the month of Ramzan.

According to the media report, The Lahore court had stated that the price fixed by the government was allowed only for the month of Ramzan. A sugar dealer from Lahore said that the prices of the commodity are likely to increase from Monday. A senior member from Pakistan Sugar Mills Association did not deny nor confirm the increase in the sugar prices from Monday.
