Sugar production in Maharashtra reaches at 729 lakh quintal

Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra is progressing smoothly. As many as 194 sugar mills, including 96 cooperative mills and 98 private mills, have produced 729.02 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 724.91 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.06 per cent till January 31, 2022.

Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum (45) sugar mills operating during the ongoing crushing season. The mills have produced 197.43 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 172.25 lakh quintal cane.

Kolhapur division is leading in the state in terms of producing maximum sugar with a recovery rate of 11.46 per cent. The mills from the division have produced 197.43 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 172.25 lakh tonnes of sugarcane.
