Sugar recovery rate in Maharashtra reaches close to 10 per cent

Pune, Maharashtra: Sugar mills in Maharashtra are performing well in the ongoing season. The state is also able to maintain good sugar recovery rate so far. Sugar recovery in the state is close to 10 per cent. As per the data released by the Sugarcane commissionerate, till 20 January 2021, sugar recovery is 9.79 per cent.

As many as 182 sugar mills in Maharashtra have begun the sugarcane crushing in the current season. The mills have produced 548.55 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 560.36 lakh tonne sugarcane.

Maximum sugar mills (40) are in operation in the Solapur division followed by Kolhapur division (37).

Sugar mills in Kolhapur division registered above 11 per cent sugar recovery and mill in Pune division recorded above 10 per cent sugar recovery.
