Sugarcane farmers in Chhattisgarh get Rs 68.90 crore from state government

Raipur: Under sugarcane cultivation promotion scheme of the state government to boost cane cultivation, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel transferred Rs 68.90 crore to the bank accounts of growers on Tuesday.

Addressing the farmers at a function he said, Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of ‘self-reliant’ villages is turning into a reality in Chhattisgarh.

The transferred amount includes an outstanding bonus worth Rs 11.99 crore for the 2022-21 season and Rs 56.91 crore for the sugarcane crushing season 2021-22, said a government official.

The scheme is expected to boost cane cultivation in the state and increase the area under cane cultivation, he added.
