Tamil Nadu delegation visits Uttar Pradesh on sugar industry tour

A meeting was held today, in the meeting hall of Cane Commissioner Office between the five-member delegation of Tamil Nadu State that came on study tour and senior officers of the Headquarters in the Cane Development Department. This meeting was presided over by Additional Chief Secretary, Sugar Industry and cane Development Department, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy.

Addressing the delegation, Shri Bhoosreddy said that continuous hard work has been done by the Cane Development Department in favour of its stakeholders and as a result of which the department has established historical records in the field of Cane price payment, Cane crushing, Sugar production, Sugar recovery etc. Describing Sugar Industry and Cane Development Department and the role of Excise Department as supplementary, he gave detailed information to the delegation regarding the Cane Department and its co-institutions.

During the meeting, Shri Bhoosreddy told the delegation about the Survey and Satta policy of Cane Department, Smart Ganna Kisan Project, Paperless supply ticket(SMS ganna purchie) cane varieties, training, publicity, Grievance redressal system, Escrow account mechanism, Khandsari policy, Farm Machinery Bank, women empowerment etc. and delegation was also informed about facts that how during Covid-19, continuous operation of the Sugar industry became possible, he also took information from the delegation about the sugar industry in Tamil Nadu State.

In the meeting, the members of the delegation discussed the technical challenges being faced by the sugar industry in the state of Tamil Nadu and also discussed research, Cane disease management, purchie issuance, drip irrigation, mechanization in Cane cultivation. After discussion in detail, the delegation also obtained information about the policy of Cane development and working of Cooperative Cane development societies, E-ganna app, cane research etc.

The five member delegation of Tamil Nadu State comprised of Managing Director/District Revenue Officer of MRK Co-operative Sugar mill, Shri R.Sadheesh, Chief Cane Development Officer, Tamil Nadu Sugar Corporation Ltd., Chennai, Shri A. Mamundi, Chief Cane Officer of Subramaniya Siva Co-operative Sugar Mills, Shri K. Damodharan, Cane Development Officer of Tiruttani Cooperative Sugar Mills, Mr. P. William Anthony, Cane Officer of Kallakurichi-II Co-operative Sugar Mills, Mr. A. Antron Xavier Arul and they gave their views about the sugar industry of Tamil Nadu. The delegation has arrived in Uttar Pradesh on a three-day study tour. Today, after meeting at the headquarters, the study team will go to Hardoi district for a two-day field visit.

In the meeting, Excise Commissioner, Mr. Senthil Pandian, Additional Cane Commissioner, Administration Dr. Rupesh Kumar, Additional Sugar Commissioner, Mr. Shivsahay Awasthi also expressed their views. The Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Sugar Mills Federation, Shri Ramakant Pandey told about various topics related to Cooperative Sugar Mills. Joint Cane Commissioner Societies Shri V.B. Singh expressed his views on the operation of Cooperative Cane Development Societies. During the meeting, a detailed presentation was also given before the delegation on the departmental functioning and achievements.
