Technical glitches causing inconvenience to sugarcane farmers

Chhattisgarh:  Before the commencement of the crushing season, lakhs of rupees were spent on the maintenance of machines of Danteshwari Maiyya Cooperative Sugar Factory in Chhatisgarh’s Balod district. Inspite of this, it is facing technical glitches, which is affecting crushing works. Simultaneously, farmers who have arrived here with sugarcane are too facing the brunt of it. Hundreds of sugarcane tractors have been in a queue for the past four to five days.

The pending cane arrears of this crushing season is around 14 crore rupees, and so far mill has made payment of 1.5 crore rupees to the cane growers.  The sugar factory, which provides economic benefits to sugarcane farmers, is causing inconvenience as crushing works has been affected.

It has been alleged that tokens are given to influential people and those farmers who had already taken it are waiting in the queue. Officials from the mill accepted the technical fault and said it has been fixed now. On the complaint of irregularity in the factory, the collector has assured of the action.
