Telangana farmers urge governor to help in reviving sugar mill

Hyderabad: The farmers from the Jagtial district of Telangana met Governor Tamilisai Soundararaja and put forward their demand of reviving the Mutyampet Nizam sugar factory.

According to the media report, a delegation of 24 farmers from Mallapur Mandal, Jagtial district met the Governor and submitted a memorandum of demands urging her to take steps in reviving the closed sugar mill. The government had in 2014 promised to reopen the mill within 100 days after coming to power but nothing has happened so far.

Farmers claim that they have to bear a loss of Rs 500 per tonne for transporting cane to the neighbouring Gayatri Sugar Mill located at Kamareddy and they want the government to take steps and revive the closed mill.
