UAE expresses interest to invest in Indonesia’s sugar industry

Jakarta, Indonesia: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has shown interest in investing in sugarcane plantation and sugar industry in Indonesia, said Kasdi Subagyono, secretary general of the Agriculture Ministry.

According to the news report published in Antaranews.com, during a discussion on the ease and acceleration in conducting business in the farming sector post the job creation law, Subagyono said, “We have offers from UAE, where they are offering us in developing their businesses in the country, primarily in the sugarcane plantations and sugar industry.”

“Our main priority is to promote the agricultural industry and attract investors in the farming sector. Our focus is to attract investment from domestic as well as abroad entrepreneurs. We also aim to boost exports,” he said.

“Our agricultural sector is resilient and has shown good growth during the pandemic imposed due to Covid-19,” he concluded.
