UP and Mauritius can work together in field of sugarcane research and technology: CM Yogi Adityanath

Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh and Mauritius can work together in the field of sugarcane research and technology, said UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, reports The Times of India.

He along with Governor Anandiben Patel met Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnath, at Hotel Taj on Tuesday and discussed several development works.

CM said, “Around 119 sugar mills are operating in UP at present. Several people from UP have migrated to Mauritius for the cultivation of sugarcane. The economy of Mauritius depends on sugarcane cultivation and UP can play a major role in cooperating with the country in this sector,” he said.

“There is huge potential for cooperation and development of technology in the sugar sector. UP is setting up ethanol plants to produce ethanol from sugarcane which will help in reducing dependence on fuel. Ethanol plants in UP are fully functional,” Yogi further added.
