Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath gives one week ultimatum to sugar mills

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the sugar mills to pay the pending cane arrears of farmers within a week. He also asked the government officials to file cases against the millers in case of non-payment of cane dues. The Chief Minister gave these instructions at his residence during a meeting with the delegation of the Bhartiya Kisan Union on Wednesday.

The 9-member delegation led by Rakesh Tikait discussed the 21 points demand with the chief minister. Yogi assured them that the government would consider increasing the cane price during this crushing season.

Earlier the members of the organisation staged a demonstration at sugar commissioner’s office to press for their demand. Following this CM Yogi called them to discuss the issue at his office and issued instructions.

Earlier, sugarcane minister Suresh Rana while addressing a meeting in Shamali on Friday stated that the pending dues of farmers would be settled before October end. And If the mills failed to clear dues, then recovery certificates will be issued to them and dues would be paid after selling sugar from their godowns.
