Uttar Pradesh: RLD to send memorandums to CM Yogi Adityanath demanding pending cane dues

Lucknow: Taking the issue of sugarcane farmers, the Jayant Chaudhary-led RLD will be sending a memorandum to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath demanding payment of pending cane dues to the farmers in the state, reports The Times of India.

Anil Dubey, RLD spokesperson said that the memorandum will be handed over by the party members to all the district authorities across the state. He also stated that the party will launch agitation if the government fails to address the concern of cane farmers.

A group of RLD MLAs had met CM Yogi recently and demanded payment of cane dues of the farmers.

“Sugar mills are yet to pay thousands of crores to the cane farmers. They are facing severe financial stress. This is not only affecting farmers and their families but also the laborers and traders in the state,” he said.

The state government informed the state assembly during the monsoon session that more than Rs 5,000 crore is yet to be paid to the farmers for the 2022-23 crushing season.
