Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers likely to get bonus

Lucknow: Ahead of the state assembly elections, the sugarcane farmers are likely to get a bonus of Rs 10 per quintal from the Yogi Adityanath government, reports Dailypioneer.com. The decision would benefit around 45 lakh sugarcane farmers in the state.

Farmers claim that they are not happy with the state government’s decision to increase the state advisory price (SAP) for sugarcane by Rs 25 per quintal for the ongoing 2021-22 crushing season.

Varun Gandhi, BJP MP from Pilibhit has already taken up the issue stating that the farmers want hike upto Rs 400 per quintal for sugarcane this season.

As per media report, the Samajwadi Party has criticized the government’s decision to give a bonus to farmers. Rajendra Chaudhary, SP spokesman said that the steps have been taken by the government fearing defeat in the forthcoming assembly elections.
