Uttar Pradesh tops in ethanol production in country: Yogi Adityanath

Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of ethanol in the country, said UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, reports Uni India.

He was speaking on the occasion of presenting tractors and other equipment to the 77 sugarcane committees in the state.

“Sugarcane farmers are contributing to the maximum green ethanol produced in the country,” he said.

“Out of 119 sugar mills, 105 mills now pay the sugarcane price to the farmers within 10 days. The remaining mills have been pressurized to clear cane dues. We have weeded out brokers and the mills are directly communicating with farmers through smartphones,” he said.

“The lack of water for irrigation, electricity, and timely payment of their dues used to compel farmers to burn their crops before 2017 but in the past six years the situation has changed,” he added.

Now sugarcane farmers are free from brokers’ clutches and farmers need not have to wander in search of the cane parchi as it arrives on their smartphones, said Yogi.
