Uttarakhand: Farmers demand payment of pending cane dues at the earliest

Rishikesh, Uttarakhand: Farmers in Doiwala, Uttarakhand, claims that they are facing financial hardship due to the non-payment of sugarcane dues by the Doiwala Sugar Mill, reported Live Hindustan.

On Tuesday, a delegation of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) submitted a memorandum to the mill administration demanding immediate payment of the dues.

The farmers allege that the mill administration has not taken any action regarding the payment since January 20, 2023.

The SKM delegation, led by Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sabha Doiwala Mandal President Balbir Singh and Mandal Secretary Yakub Ali, urged the mill to prioritize the payment of pending dues to alleviate the financial distress faced by the farmers.

The delegation also included representatives from the Krishak Federation, such as Umed Bora, Puran Singh, Balbir Singh, Prem Singh Pal, Gurcharan Singh, Kishan Singh, Raghuveer Singh, and Anoop Kumar Pal.
