Rishikesh: Farmers in Uttarakhand’s Doiwala district have demanded that the state government announce the sugarcane price before the start of the new crushing season, reported Live Hindustan.
A delegation of farmers from the All India Kisan Sabha met with Uttarakhand’s sugarcane and sugar industry minister, Saurabh Bahuguna, on Monday to press their demands.
The farmers said that the upcoming crushing season is due to begin soon, but the state government has not yet announced the price for sugarcane. They argued that it is important for farmers to know the price at which they will be selling their sugarcane to the mills before the season begins.
