Uttarakhand: Sugarcane farmers ask govt to hike cane price to Rs 400 per quintal

Sitarganj, Uttarakhand: Farmers in Sitarganj have demanded that the government to increase sugarcane price to Rs. 400 per quintal for the upcoming crushing season, reported Live Hindustan.

The demand was made at a meeting of sugarcane farmers held on Wednesday under the leadership of Chaudhary Virendra Singh, chairman of the Sitapur Co-operative Sugarcane Development Committee.

The members demanded that the price of sugarcane for the upcoming crushing season 2023-24 be increased to Rs. 400 per quintal.

The farmers also said that they are not getting fertilizers and seeds on credit. They demanded the establishment of the Uttarakhand Terai Sugarcane Seed Development Corporation so that farmers could easily get sugarcane seeds on credit.
