War against Coronavirus: Lanka Sugar Company to continue production of ethanol

Colombo, Srilanka: Coronavirus is impacting many countries in the world, and with this also there is a shortage of sanitizers, which plays a crucial role as a preventive measure to combat from Covid-19.

Gamini Rasaputra, Chief Executive Officer, Lanka Sugar Company said that the production of ethanol at the sugar factories will be continued to meet the demand from state and private institutions for the coronavirus disinfection.

Addressing a press conference, he said, that the Ethanol is manufactured in the Sevanagala and Pelwatte sugar mills. The staff at the mill is working 24X7 with prior approval of the Commissioner General of Excise to meet the national requirement of Ethanol.

The coronavirus which had first emerged in China’s Wuhan city in December last year and has now spread to many countries in the world.
