Webinar held with joint efforts of IFFCO and Cane Department under chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Sugar Industry and Cane Development

Lucknow: Under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy keeping in view the interest of the farmers, a detailed discussion was held in the joint meeting of IFFCO and the department to use nano urea in production and development of good crops. Normally 30 percent of the applied urea is used in the field, the remaining urea is leached into the ground or evaporates in the form of nitrogen gas, thus polluting the soil, air and water. On the same place nano urea becomes 70 percent useful in the cultivation and the environment remains pure. Increasing nitrogen utilization efficiency improves crop yield, quality and increases the income of farmers.

Along with promoting balanced use of fertilizers and bio-fertilizers, Shri Bhoosreddy stressed on motivating more and more farmers to use nano urea, so that farmers can know that urea and other nitrogenous fertilizers can be used without affecting the crop yield. Maximum benefit can be obtained by spraying Nano Urea on crops at the stage of formation of maximum tillers and 10 days before flowering. By using nano urea, the subsidy amount being given by the government on urea will also be saved and the nation will be successful in moving towards self-reliant India by replacing the demand of 30 percent imported urea from nano urea.

Instructions have also been given to promote IFFCO’s nano urea and other new beneficial products through flexi at about 550 godowns of Cane societies and sugar mill gates. IFFCO is expected to make tractors mounted sprayers, boomsprayers and manual battery sprayers available to the farmers through societies to increase the spray of nano urea. Shri Bhoosreddy has directed the IFFCO to provide training to the warehouse in-charges and sugar mill workers related to sugarcane development regarding the use of nano urea. It has also been expected from the sugar mills that for spraying the ratoon crop in the month of April and May, nano urea water solution should be sprayed extensively.

In the webinar, Special Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Rupesh Kumar, Additional Cane Commissioner Shri YS Malik, Shri R.P. Yadav, Joint Cane Commissioner Dr. V.B. Singh, Shri Vishwesh Kanojia, and other senior officers and scientists and 950 officers and employees of Cane development department and sugar mills participated.
