Will move to High Court against sugar mills: BG Patil

Sangli: Sugarcane farmers from Sangli district are upset as they have yet not received the pending cane arrears with interest. Therefore farmers organisations warned to knock the court doors over pending dues.

While addressing the press conference, Baliraja Kisan Sangathan president BG Patil said, “We will move to High court over cane dues. The crushing licence should not be given to sugar mills until they don’t pay the arrears.”

He alleged that sugar mills in the district still owe around Rs 19 crore to sugarcane farmers.

“Some sugar factories in the state have paid outstanding FRPs with interest. Sugar Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad has assured that a final notice will be issued to all the mills over pending FRP. If the action is not taken then we will move to the court,” Patil further added.
