Won’t allow sugar mill to close operations till all canes are harvested: BKU

Nangalsoti, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of BKU have stated that they won’t allow the Barkatpur Sugar Mill to close operations until all the cane grown in the region is completely crushed. The farmers have also shown resentment over the delay in the cane payment.

The farmers had organised a meeting at Shahjadpur under the leadership of BKU Mandal vice president Dinesh Kumar to discuss the issues they are facing. During the meeting, they decided to not allow the sugar mill to close operations till it completes the crushing of all the cane grown in its jurisdiction.

The farmers have demanded that the district administration should take steps and ensure that the sugar mills clear the pending cane dues on a priority basis.
