Workshop organised to help farmers increase their income

Lucknow: The Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), organised an international seminar at the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research on Tuesday to discuss the strategies that will help in increasing the income of farmers, reports Hindustan Times.

As many as 60 CGIAR employees along with representatives from research institutes and other experts from all over the country attended the seminar.

The scientists and the experts discussed possible ways to increase the productivity of the crops, bettering the irrigation system, and introducing new varieties of seeds that would speed up harvest and ultimately boost the income of farmers.

Minister of state for agriculture, agriculture education and agriculture research Surya Pratap Shahi was chief guest at the event.

The conference was chaired by Dr. Temina Lallani-Shariff, regional director for South Asia and all CGIAR centres established therein.
