“Government is committed to revive the ailing sugar mills”

Adampur, May 11: Congress Jalandhar candidate Chaudhary Santokh Singh told that Congress government is committed to revive the ailing Sugar Mills in the state and from June onwards, the oldest Sugar Mill of Bhogpur would be completely modernised, with the installation of a new sugar plant, with an investment of Rs 115 crore.

”The blueprint for the modernisation of the oldest sugar mill has already been rolled out by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and by June this year, a new sugar plant with the capacity of 3000 TCD would be installed by spending Rs 115 crore,” Mr Singh said, while addressing gatherings at Laroi, Bhatnura Lubana, Patial, Bhattian, Rastgo, Gehlaran, Kingra, Kohja, Salala, Kala Bakra and Preet Palace of Bhogpur block in Adampur.

Congress would ensure that farmers get the right value for their produce and a new modernised sugar mill project at the cooperative sugar mill, Bhogpur commences by June 2019, having 3000 TCD and 15 Megawatt (MW) as unique features, he added.

He said out of the 15 MW power generation, about 8.5 MW would be sold to the Punjab State Power Corporation. Not only the sugarcane growers would be benefit from the Mill, but it would generate more employment opportunities for the youth.
