According to the media reports, the Food ministry has issued a cabinet note on increasing the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane.
As per news report published by Zee Business, a cabinet note was issued on increasing the FRP of sugarcane by Rs 15 per quintal. The FRP of sugarcane for 2021-22 was Rs 290 per quintal.
Last year on August 25, keeping in view interest of sugarcane farmers, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved FRP of sugarcane for sugar season 2021-22 (October – September) at Rs 290 per quintal for a basic recovery rate of 10 per cent.
