Nepal: Sugarcane farmers to protest in capital for pending cane arrears

Kathmandu: Sugarcane farmers in Nepal have warned to launch a protest in Maitighar Mandala, Kathmandu on Sunday to demand their pending cane arrears.

The sugarcane farmers’ action committee members told local media that they are forced to launch agitation as the sugar mills are delaying in clearing sugarcane arrears.

Farmers claim that Annapurna Sugar Mill owes Rs 170 million, Shree Ram Sugar Mill owes Rs 350 million, Lumbini Sugar Mill is yet to pay Rs 84.1 million and Indira Sugar Mill failed to pay Rs 47 million.
