Pakistan: District administration seizes sugar

Mirpurkhas: Mirpurkhas district administration raided a flour mill and seized thousands of bags of sugar that were illegally hoarded in the mill, reports Dawn.

The raid was conducted by Mirpurkhas deputy commissioner Zainul Abideen Memon, assistant commissioner of Hussain Bux Marri Taluka, Younus Rind, police and other officials. These officials acted on the tip-off and raided the flour mill and seized six to seven thousand bags of sugar hoarded there.

The officials initiated action against the hoarders and imposed a fine of Rs200,000 after sealing it.

The sugar bags were being auctioned on the taluka level to distribute among people at Rs 90 per kg, especially through Bachat bazaar, said the deputy commissioner.
