Prime Minister Narendra Modi hails UP’s sugarcane price hike

Lucknow: In a commendation of the Yogi Adityanath government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the recent decision to raise the sugarcane State Advisory Price (SAP) during the ongoing crushing season in Uttar Pradesh, reported The Times of India.

Just a week ago, the state government increased the cane SAP by Rs 20 per quintal, signaling a renewed effort by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to address the concerns of cane growers in the politically significant western Uttar Pradesh region.

The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s dedication to alleviating the challenges faced by farmers, particularly in receiving timely compensation. Modi asserted that the current government has prioritized the well-being of farmers, a commitment unmatched by any previous administration. He highlighted the swift disbursement of compensation, contrasting it with the delays farmers had experienced in the past.

Promoting the production of ethanol emerged as a key financial support for sugarcane growers, according to Modi. Additionally, he noted that the government has ensured the availability of urea at a significantly lower price compared to global rates.
