Kolhapur: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has warned the sugarcane farmers and the sugar mills that the strict action will be taken if they are found overloading the sugarcane in their transport vehicles and operating without reflectors.
The RTO issued directives after the recent incident in which a truck carrying sugarcane lost balance at Ambap phata on National Highway-4, 10 km away from Kolhapur on Thursday. No casualty was reported in the incident.
Regional transport officer Steven Alvares, said, “We are keeping a strict vigil on the sugarcane transportation and will take strict action against the vehicles that are found overloaded and the ones that are found operating without reflectors.”
