Sanjivani Sugar mill issue: Farmers resign from Govt Facilitation Committee

Panaji: In a latest development, sugarcane farmers have opted to disengage from the Farmers Facilitation Committee appointed by the government. The decision was voiced by Rajendra Dessai, who stated that the farmers have opted to leave the government-appointed Farmers Facilitation Committee as it is not fulfilling our basic demand of resuming the factory, reported Goemkarponn.

Expressing dissatisfaction, Dessai conveyed a threat to escalate their protest if the government does not address their demand within the stipulated timeframe for compensating sugarcane farmers affected by the closure of the Sanjivani Sugar Factory.

“It is highly prejudicial that despite having assured the installation of ethanol plant within five years of the closure of the Sanjivani Sugar Factory, the government has failed to move an inch towards setting up of the ethanol plant,” claimed Dessai.
