State government to promote jaggery production in Bihar

Patna: The state government is taking steps to promote jaggery production considering its benefits for a healthy life, reports Live Hindustan.

The government has set a target to set up 405 jaggery production units in the next five years and will be providing technical and financial assistance for setting up jaggery units.

In the first phase, the government will promote jaggery production in 13 districts from where 70% of the jaggery is produced in the state now. The remaining 30% of units will be set up in the regions where sugar mills are operating.

The government will be spending Rs 57 crore in the next five years on jaggery production.
