Uttar Pradesh Government likely to increase sugarcane SAP for 2023-24 Season

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is likely to increase state-advised price (SAP) of sugarcane for the 2023-2024 season, ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, reported Daily Pioneer.

SAP is the price paid by mills to farmers against cane procurement. It is more than the fair and remunerative price fixed by the Central government.

As per media report, industry estimates suggest that the SAP is likely to see an upward revision of Rs 25 per quintal.

To ensure sufficient availability of sugar for domestic consumption at a reasonable price, today Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) announced that the restrictions on the export of all varieties of sugar have been extended beyond October 31.
