Cadbury plans to launch chocolate with 75 per cent less sugar

Cadbury, a major chocolate producer, is preparing to launch a diet chocolate that has 75% less sugar, according to the various media reports.

Following the diet soft drinks, the chocolates are also shifting to healthier alternatives, said Dirk van de Put, chief executive of the brand’s US owner Mondelez.

Cadbury will be using plant-based fibres to lower the sugar content in the chocolate.

“It will grow slowly in the market and will be like diet drinks,” said Mr van de Put.

Criticizing the sugar tax on soft drinks and banning unhealthy snacks, he said that regular taxation doesn’t work.
